Belio Mgz - POP contest
From Belio:
Thousands of colours fill my retinas. Everything happens very fast, the light blinds me and reality once again exists in front of me, transformed into a multicolour, crayola universe…a rainbow of cartoons crowns a green, alpine valley. It rains technicolour happiness while a smiling sun transforms the tiny, refreshing drops that fall into an infintiy of little animals. The charaters that inhabit this precious, sugared world sing in unison: “We’re going to see the Wizard of Pop!”. This world, full of conservatives, colours, acidulants and thickeners, is just a pretty TV image that incites us to consume and be happy. You can chant: “The more you have, the more you want and the more you want, the happier you’ll be”. That’s popular culture.
Give me a P!
Give me an O!
Give me a P!
Poooooooooooop!!!!!
We use this word as an adjective for all that is colourful, happy, easy and satisfied. Something that’s easy for the masses to hum, something easy to consume. Quick, right here, right now! And why not? If 1 million Chinese people consume it, why not 50 million TV viewers? If it is being announced on TV then we can’t be wrong.
Andy Warhol was one of the first to realise that popular culture is also art and that art based on consumer products is also a delicious gourmet product. From then on the influence of Pop Art spread from design museums, advertising and any of the many other products that surround us.
It’s time to get your work churning out of the conveyor belt - show us your colours in graphic contributions for the next issue of Belio!!!The deadline for submission of colaborations: 15th October 2008
Trash film festival
Last week I finished poster for Trash film festival in Varazdin, Croatia. The brief was to use chainsaw, SF elements and shurikens. Since the festival is taking place for the 3rd year I decided to play with 3d movie elements like 3d glasses and used color scheme from Freddy Krueger’s sweater. Brainstorming for the poster was done in collaboration with Stef (he’s also the guy holding the chainsaw). Big tnx to Damir for some great CG tips & tricks.
OFFF catalogue 2008
This was my entry for this years Offf catalogue. Theme was: “A WI-FI! A WI-FI! MY KINGDOM FOR A WI-FI!” I have to give credit to Stef for helping me develop this fuzzy concept which most people don’t understand. Luckily guys at Offf did understand it so it will be part of this years catalog.
Comments: I played with the idea - what if king was misunderstood.
Interesting things started happening. But in the end - Wi Fi is here to stay.
At least for a while. I also designed simple icons to follow this storyline.
Tools used: Photoshop CS2
Belio Mgz - Wildlife contest
From Belio:
You can start thinking about our next topic… the following issue will be about WILDLIFE:
Wild, animal and free.
The next issue of Belio does not merely have to do with little animals, much less with pets, nor does it intend to be an enciplopaedia of species. In a nutshell, our next issue will be an argument in defense of wildlife and most particularly a denunciation of the abuse that the humans inflict upon other live creatures by hunting, taming, reproducing, genetically manipulating, using and killing them in the most cruel of manners. Whether they are used as food, clothing, toys or entertainment objects, all live creatures deserve certain rights. What can you do about it?
We are not going to ask for a financial donation or make you become an activist, but we do ask for your creative donation. If you care about the topic…collaborate in the next issue and: STAND UP FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS! Think about the massacres of seals in the North Pole, the whale hunting, abandoned pets, overweight artificially grown chicken to be used for fast food, people who wear exotic animal furs, the clonation of Dolly, scientific experiments, the zoos that do not meet the most elemental life conditions for a wild animal; you can choose whichever cause you prefer and…. DEFEND!! the spirit of the animals, responsible consumption of food products (vegetarian or not), protected natural areas, in short, a respectful and balanced human-wildlife relationship. Your work will speak for yourself!
The deadline for submission of colaborations: 15th June 2008

Belio Mgz - Contest
The next magazine is “026:PARTY” and the deadline to submit any collaboration is on February 15th. The works should have something to do with the topic chosed:
balloons, music, costumes, presents, confetti, tarts, cakes, all this and a motive, real or imagined, and above all: friends. We already have the classic ingredients of any party, but a party can be this or something very different. It can be private or public, local, national or international; a birthday, wedding, baptism or communion; New Year’s Eve, Christmas Eve, Carnival or Halloween; on Saturday, Friday, Sunday, Thursday… with DJs, music, or the village band; with soft drinks and canapés or alcohol and drugs, a ritual between two people, a group of friends or a mass of strangers, at home, in the street, in a garden, disco or hidden place in the country, legal or illegal, free, cheap or exclusively expensive, with a dress code, formal, smart casual, in a tracksuit or even in pyjamas…the point is to have fun, forget who you are and join in the collective smile, play, dance, sing, play jokes, hook up, don’t sleep, watch the sun come up if you need to, or even arrive into work with bags under your eyes and a good strong coffee…
You can send your collaborations to the following address:

This very affordable design magazine (5€), full of inspirative graphics connected with same theme has new contest. This time the theme is TRIP. Here is their brief:
RECEPTION OF WORKS FOR BELIO 024 The next edition of Belio will be an special TRIP issue, where you can send collaborations for a collective trip, be it physical… by plane, boat, car, bicycle, on foot… to another city, to another country, another continent or around the world… for business or pleasure. Be it mental… imaginary, introspective, hallucinatory, dreamy, with a psychoactive drug, a book, a meditation… in the past, to the future, in the present, a parallel reality, a surreal world, to outer space, a fantasy, our very soul, to the collective unconscious… or wherever we want. Every journey is a complete process, from the preparation of it, to the start, through the middle, into the objective and as always, the next step is to return. But what would happen if there was no return? The mere fact of travelling, for travel’s sake, the continuous journey, the eternal nomad…
